Emily Salmon, violin

Friends and Family

"Thanks to Ronald Copes and other teachers at The Juilliard School for an invigorating and challenging education.  Thanks to Masuko Ushioda and New England Conservatory for the most inspiring and enriching environment I've ever experienced.  Thanks also to my parents, Joseph and Cynthia Salmon, without whom I could never have had this incredible life."

Masuko Ushioda, the remarkable internationally-acclaimed prize-winning violinist and Emily's teacher and mentor for the six years she studied in Boston, passed away in May 2013 at the age of 71 after a battle with leukemia. Lucy Chapman, renowned violinist and chair of the string department at New England Conservatory, wrote a beautiful tribute to this amazing woman that was featured in Strad Magazine in January 2014.
