Emily Salmon, violin

Biography

     Emily Salmon is a tenured full-contract member of the Victoria Symphony. She began her musical studies with Goran Berg at the age of four in Livermore, California. She moved at 16 to Natick, Massachusetts, to further pursue her studies at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts.  She received a Bachelor of Music degree from the prestigious New England Conservatory in 2009 under the tutelage of Masuko Ushioda, and in May 2012 she completed the Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School where she studied with Ronald Copes.

     Emily's musical career has taken her to many places across the country and abroad. She has performed in concert halls from San Francisco to Boston, New York, Venezuela, Brazil, Canada, and Germany.  She has worked with such distinguished conductors as James Levine, Alan Gilbert, Helmuth Rilling, Hugh Wolff, Ludovic Morlot, Gustavo Dudamel and Leonard Slatkin.  She has also had the pleasure of working with other musicians such as James Buswell, Carol Ou, Yi-Sun Kim of the Borromeo String Quartet, John Gibbons, and Paul Biss.
